Java with Kava
The Friends of the Blair Public Library will host "Java with Kava," featuring a visit by Alex Kava, teamed up with beverages and a variety of literary-themed desserts. Guests will enjoy "Orange Marmalade Cake" from the Mitford series, scones (think Jane Austen!), and other desserts that tie in to literary favorites. Admission free to Blair "Friends" members; free will donation accepted from other guests. Proceeds benefit Friends programming and activities.

Thirsty Thursday with Alex Kava
The public is invited to visit the Schillingbridge Winery and Micro Brewery when author Alex Kava will present a reading, have a Question & Answer period, followed by a book signing. Guests on "Thirsty Thursday" will be able to enjoy the pleasures of wine tasting and refreshments during the presentation. There is no admission but guests will need to purchase refreshments on their own.

Lunch Can Be Murder!!
The South Sioux City Public Library will hold community discussions on Tuesday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m., in The Daily Grind and 6:30 p.m., in the library. Both book clubs are also discussing the book in August. Barnes & Noble is partnering with the library by sponsoring a book fair for us. South Sioux City Library book fair vouchers are available at both the library and the store. Each time a customer presents one of our vouchers to the cashier at time of purchase or asks the cashier for a voucher, Barnes & Noble will donate 15% of the entire sale to the library. The Library will host a luncheon with Alex Kava on Thursday, September 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided by The Daily Grind. Those reservations must be made by September 11.

"Discussion and Dessert"
The public is invited to discuss One False Move the 2006 One Book One Nebraska title written by Nebraska author Alex Kava. Readers will enjoy refreshments as they discuss this novel seated around tables.

"Facts or Fiction: Nebraska State Parks"
On Thursday, May 11th at 7 p.m. Seward Memorial Library will host a one-hour program with speaker, Roger Sykes, Platte River State Park Superintendent. This program will have information about vacationing in this park as well as any of Nebraska's state parks. The presentation will include a time for questions, followed by refreshments. The public is welcome, and it is not necessary to read the book to attend.

Grand Island Reads Alex Kava
The Grand Island Public Library offers a two part program on Alex Kava's book "One False Move" Chapter One: A signup program on March 15, 2006 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm for attendees to meet their fellow crime readers, engage in conversation and coffee, and to receive book discussion questions. Chapter Two - The book discussion program. Join Librarians Celine Stahlnecker and Kathleen Nonneman, the library's own "CSI" team as they host a two-hour book discussion. This fantastic forensic evening will be held at the Grand Island Public Library on April 5, 2006, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Coffee and biscotti will be served. Crime Scene Investigation
CSI Detective Sgt. Erin Sims will speak on "Crime Scene Investigation". The 45 minute presentation will be followed by a time for questions, and refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public.

Trivia and Table Tents
Crete Public Library staff will format table tents that offer trivia related to One False Move and Alex Kava. During the months of April, May and June, these table tents will be placed at local restaurants. The author has some interesting crime and investigation facts that we'll use to make these tents fun and interesting.

Gnome About Town
Since one of the characters in One False Move had such a fondness for stealing garden gnomes, Crete Public Library will place a gnome in several local business throughout April and May. Patrons who record successful gnome sightings will be entered into a drawing for awards (gift certificates, books, etc) to be purchased by our Freinds of the Library group.

One False Move @ your library
Crete Public Library will kick off our One Book One Nebraska celebration during National Library Week April 2-8. We'll have multiple copies available at that time for check out, and we'll schedule book discussions for the following summer months.
