Where is Crazy Horse buried?

This is one of the most controversial questions regarding the history of Crazy Horse. There are over 12 places claiming to be the final resting place of Crazy Horse. His burial place has been kept a secret by those that knew/know for fear of it being desecrated.

What did Crazy Horse look like?

Unlike Red Cloud, Crazy Horse did not want his picture taken. While most accounts of his appears correspond with what Sandoz wrote, there is no confirmed image of what he looked like. Many artists have created images of what they think he may have looked like, the most well know of these being the Crazy Horse monument, currently under construction in South Dakota.

Are Sandoz’ books available in other languages?

Yes. Sandoz’ works have been published in 22 different languages. These editions are often more difficult to find in the United States, a local librarian or book seller should be able to assist you.

Are any of Sandoz’ brothers or sisters still alive? Does any of her family still live in Western Nebraska?

Yes and Yes. Mari was eldest of six children and her youngest sister, Caroline, is still alive. Caroline and many of the Sandoz family still live and work in Western Nebraska.

Are there Sandoz’ related places that I can visit?

Yes. In addition to the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, Mari’s grave site is open to visitors, as are many of the places mentioned in many of Sandoz’ works. A publication featuring driving directions to many of these places is currently in production.
